For me the reason the clock and stereo were resetting was because they were losing all power from the battery. The battery was dead. maybe your cables need to be cleaned or there is a loose connection.

In my 1995 Metro there is no clock, other than the one that is in the stereo. If the stereo is bad, just replace it. You will need a new stereo, a wiring harness if you don't want to hack up the old factory harness, and a install kit to make the stereo fit in the hole if the old stereo is factory.
