you dive in. there is a special way to dive in called a "start" which if done correctly will give you an advantage over your opponents and help you get a faster time. starts are crucial in a race.

use the ladder or steps if theres none of those which there should be then sit on the side on the pool with legs in water using your hands turn on a 90 degree angle use your hands to hold you up then turn another 90 degrees still using your hands to hold yourself up then gently ease yourself into the water
