Tighten the metalrod to the base using the nut on the underside and the pole on top. Then take the rubber striped tube and slide it on to the metal part. The lip/narrower end should be at the top. Finally slide/adjust the other rubber tube on the very top to fit the height of your batter. The narrower end should be on top.
