The athlete's get payed like in any other job. they receive a check but when you say pro it could mean many different things i once knew a guy that played professional Baseball but not in America he went to china and he had a salary that they broke down into monthly payments say it was 400,000 they divided it by 12 and that was how they did it in other cases like if your in minor league baseball which is sometimes considered professional baseball they have a food salary which is how much they can spend on food a day here's an example: they could possible spend 10 dollars on breakfast 15 on lunch and 20 at dinner they would keep receipts and be reimbursed at the end of the week. Depends on how you look at it

Most likely they just take the pictures. rarely would you find someone who did both. Also, it depends if you are looking at someones private site - then they probably took wrote the article and took the picture. but at ESPN or any professional sports league's website more than likely took the picture only because they have journalists who are paid to write and photographers who are paid to take pictures. hope that helped :)
Not enough
If you mean event or photoshoot photographers, I assume they are paid by hour. If you mean photographers who take pictures to sell in a gallery, they are paid by the estimate of the value of the image by its quality.
It depends on the level of skill of the photographer and the client.
No, but if you stay in high school and become their sports photographer, and develop experience and a portfolio, you have a better chance of getting sports photog jobs.
It depends on the type of photographer. Studio and social photographers (including wedding photographers) often start by becoming assistants to professional photographers. The work is usually poorly paid as the assistant is gaining valuable experience. Landscape photographers, often start by submitting work to magazines and calandars. Wildlife photographers usually start out with an interest in wildlife - the work requires such long periods of waiting and hardship that a passion for the subject is required. Press photographers usually start working on local papers doing freelance work.
that would be called a radiologist. some radiologist make bank it matters what kind you are.

YES! They do
I believe that would be a very difficult number to calculate. Photographers are amateurs unless paid for their work. So any photographers that have a business of there own, whether they advertise that or not they are still a business. You could get a general number but I think that would only be the very well known photographers.
He gets paid from 500,000 - 1,000,000 dollars for one photo shot. His latest project was 2.5 million. One of the richest photographers in the world.
