Either Rodney Mullen, or some crazy European freestyler. Either way, it was a freestyler who did it first. Jason Lee was probably one of the first to attempt and execute on a big deck.
Rodney mullen was the first to do it. me made it as well and he also made the kickflip heelflip rail stance varial flip 360 nollie and others. go to rodneymullen.net and it shows all of his tricks.
the name tre flip came from three flip. the name three flip is easier to say (three or 360) three stands for the 300 degrees it turns the 60 other degrees were left out (dunno why), then by saying it fast it sounded to some like tre flip and this caused a chain reaction. so now most of the people call them tre flips(not everyone)
In case anyone else looking this up, as I did, wants to know. I found a video of Mr. Mullen, stating that he was doing it in competition but it was happening so fast people thought he was just doing a 360 shuvit. So he started doing double 360 flips, in hopes it would be noticed...it never was. So be started focusing on tricks that people could, essentially, observe. I think this was said on a Tony Hawk interview, which you can find on YouTube. It's a two parter.
