The Atlanta Falcons franchise recieved its mascot on August 29, 1965. It was suggested by schoolteacher Ms. Julia Elliot from Griffin, GA. She was singled out by many people who were suggesting mascots. Her explanation for her reason of choice the "Falcons" was," The falcons is proud and dignified, with great courage and flight, it never drops its prey, It is deadly and has a great sporting tradition."
