A new format has been added called twenty20. Apart from that the overs in ODI have been reduced to 50 overs from 60 overs. The wide has been changed from just sides to height. If the ball is high but still under the head (above the shoulders) it means that the umpire gives ONE FOR THE OVER which allows the bowler to bowl the delivery being legal. The next ball same over would be illegal and called a No Ball. Also the No Ball near the popping crease has been changed too. If a bowler oversteps the ball is not only no ball but the next ball is a Free Hit where a batsman could only get out by the means of Run Out. Along with the several new rules added recently, the Power Plays are amongst the more famous ones which is related to the feild placement allowing only a certain number of feilders ouside of the 30 yard circle. This rule is divided into 3 parts of 10, 5 and 5 overs. The second two have slight variation in how and where the player could stand than the first one and the second two power plays can be taken any time of the game. This rule replaces the 15 over restriction which was implemented before. The Size of a ground has been fixed to 65 yards minimum on an international stardard ground. A lot of experimentation is also done in recent times. The twenty-20 has its own set of rules. Each Team could play only 7 games of Twenty20 in one year.

As far as test match is concerned there have been a few rules added to it too which includes the height where the umpire could give ONE FOR THE OVER and then the next one as being a no ball in order to reduce the negativity in the game if anything. Apart from that the test match has been kept very intact in order to keep it being the PUREST FORM of Cricket so alteration has been less.

Terminology is changed over all and so has a lot of norms or new ways of technology useage or way of players and umpire thinking and appling it in the game.

why cricket has changedim not exactly sure how cricket has changed. There have been many changes in the rules of the game but no one is exactly sure how it has changed. This has been one of my questions for school and i know nohting about it. so may you please help me find out why! ANSWER:
  • The first change ICC(International cricket council) made is they allow free hit to the batsman on "No ball". So these are extra runs and extra ball too.
  • Second change they made recently which is not implemented yet is that a batsman can apeal against Umpire's decision three times in the field if he is not sure about the decision made against him.

I hope it will be helpful.
