Through Super Bowl XLIV, there have been only two QB to start for two different teams. Craig Morton was the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl V and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XII (losing to his former team, Dallas). Kurt Warner was the starting QB for the St. Louis Rams in Superbowls XXXIV and XXXVI and also the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. The stat for most passing yards in Super Bowl games shows Kurt Warner with the top 3 slots.

Earl Morrall was the "backup" QB who contributed greatly to the Super Bowl seasons of the Baltimore Colts (lost Super Bowl III but won Super Bowl V) and the Miami Dolphins (won Super Bowls VII and VIII), both teams coached by the legendary Don Shula.

Jeff Rutledge was also the backup QB on two winning Super Bowl teams, the New York Giants (Super Bowl XXI) and the Washington Redskins (Super Bowl XXVI).

The closest any starting quarterback has come was Kurt Warner (born June 22, 1971) who was MVP of Super Bowl XXXIV with the St. Louis Rams and played in Super Bowl XLIII nine years later with the Arizona Cardinals.

Rams won Super Bowl 34 (2000) over the Tennessee Titans 23-16.

Cardinals lost Super Bowl 43 (2009) to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23.

The first starting quarterback on different Super Bowl teams was Craig Morton in 1971 and 1978. Unfortunately, both Dallas (Super Bowl V) and Denver (Super Bowl XII) lost their games.
