On June 19, 1949, Sara Christian became the first woman to compete in a Nascar event. The series was then known as "Strictly Stock". On July 10, 1949, Louise Smith and Ethel Mobley became the second and third women to compete. Janet Guthrie was the first woman to compete in a Winston Cup Series event.

If you would like to become one or your friend does then maybe you could contact somebody who knows about it see if you CAN get a career out of it.

There's actually been 4 or 5 that have or are now driving F1. You would still have to start at the basics and start winning races. I think CART is a start. Depending on your natural abilities and your past performances you get the sponsors and recognition and someone will be knocking on your door.

1992 when Giovanna Amati of Italy drove for Brabham. She was entered in the first 3 races of the season (South Africa, Mexico, Brazil) but did not qualify for any of them. She was then removed from the ride and replaced by Damon Hill.
