Oh yes

Perhaps more notably, 6' 3" Ryan (an inch shorter than Cal but still growing) plays Basketball quite well. He was the second-leading scorer for Gilman School, a private school in Baltimore that is part of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (Calvert Hall, Georgetown Prep, Mt. St. Joseph's, Boys' Latin, etc.), last season as a freshman (11.5 ppg). The team looks to have a promising 2009-10 season as Ripken's teammates include last season's leading scorer Cyrus Jones (another freshman, 14 ppg, and football running back), Darius Jennings, outstanding all-around athlete & Gilman's starting QB (led the area in rushing this season with 2,000+ yards, also runs track), as well as some other excellent athletes including a UNC Lacrosse recruit and another football player (H-back) who stands 6' 5"/245 and will anchor the inside. Add several players from last season's almost-conference-champion JV squad and you have a group of players who are used to winning and have a great deal of athleticism. It should be an interesting season for Ryan & friends.

Who influinced cal ripken jr?

As far as the baseball players who have influenced Cal Ripken Jr., I would have to say that great players from his childhood such as Nolan Ryan and Hank Aaron would have had great influences on him. Also, aside from the players, his father, Cal Ripken Sr. who was the manager of the Orioles for a long time, surely was a strong influence on his son who played for the Orioles.
