Well if you want to be a pro then yes you need to be flexible but if you are going out for a junior squad then you dont need as high of a flexibility level
It depends on ther level of skill and who your asking.
You don't need any specific education to be a cheerleader. You just have to have the appropriate skills and be successful in your try outs.

your coach probably does that because she wants girls that are flexible, but she is not going to force you, and she probably sees other potential in you. what you can do is the following: 1. take tumbling/flexibility classes 2. practice at home 3. show her something else amazing you can do so then she will not moan about one thing when you are pro at another *hope this helps i am a cheerleader to so i know how those things we call coaches minds work.*
