Best Answer

Yes, because they are tied to their team by a contract.

For example, Rick DiPietro signed a 15-year, $67.5 million contract with the Islanders, and even though he has been hurt for most of the years since 2006, he is still being paid every penny (barring any sort of fines and/or suspensions).

An important note is that if a player is on the IR (injured reserve) then their salary is not included in the team's salary cap until they are off of the IR.

NHL players get paid for the whole season, but not the playoffs. There is often team bonuses for the players to split in the playoffs.
