The packers are the only team that is publically owned. The city of Green Bay has a set number of shares that are handed down from generation to generation and with this stock is included season tickets to home games. The most valuable season tickets are n.y. giants tickets which are included in wills and like green bay are handed down to surviving relatives. An organization can make a profit AND be a non-profit organization. A non-profit organization is an organization that does not distribute its surplus funds to owners or shareholders, but instead uses them to help pursue its goals. By this definition, yes, the Packers are a non-profit organization. Any organization (business, non-profit, etc) that runs a deficit is not going to last very long.

The Packers do produce a profit. In fact this past year profit jumped up 26.4 percent to a team record $54.3 million.
