He was sentenced to one year of probation and was fined $250,000 by the NFL, which was believed to be the highest fine levied against an NFL player for an infraction not involving substance abuse.

Ray Lewis and two friends got into an altercation outside a nightclub when the Superbowl was held in Atlanta. When the club closed about 2AM Lewis and his friend swho arrived in a limo began fighting with two other black men. Initially two witnesses testified they saw Lewis doing something to one of the victims that looked like stabbong or punching. Lewis was covered in blood and the group made a getaway in the limo. Blood was found in the limo which matched DNA of both victims. The limo driver originally testified that Ray Lewis told evryone not to talk to the police about what happened and his bloody white suit disappeared along with the murder weapons. The limo driver now owns his own limo service. Ray Lewis settled a civil complaint with the victims' family reportedly for 2 million dollars. He knew that just like OJ when the evidence came out he would lose everything in the civil trial. The prosecutors who tried him including Paul Howard have been rated the worst in the United States. Ray Lewis got away with murder. His two companions have continued to get into trouble and did time in Florida.
