No. The ball must be touched by another player (see Law 13).

If a football player manages to catch the football with his legs is it a legal completed pass?

No the hands of the eligable reciever have to have a part in completeing a cetch in the nfl u can use any part of your body for control but the hands have to be used to make a reception The above answer is essentially correct, however the pass is not ruled incomplete until the ball touches the ground. So a player can catch the ball between his legs as long as he then retrieves it with his hands and demonstrates control without the ball ever touching the ground.

In football if you are down on another player are you down?

It depends. If your knee is touching the ground, or if the ball is, you are considered "down by contact". If both the ball and your knee are off the ground, you are still able to get up and run. (This has happened numerous times with players falling over an opposing player, landing on their feet and continuing on)

Where did the term touchdown come from?

In the first days of football when a ball carrier crossed the goal line he would touch the ball to the ground. The touching of the ball to the ground for the score was called a "TOUCHDOWN". This rule still applies in rugby, where a player doesn't score unless he touches the ball to the ground.

Can you be a football player without going to college?

I am assuming you are asking if you can be a professional football player without going to college. The answer is yes. You would contact the team for which you are interested in trying to play. The odds of getting a tryout without an agent to represent you and no resume of football experience are very, very bad.
