Prior to that, no. The Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in the 70's and the

Penguins didn't win their first Stanley Cup until 91 AND then again in 92.

The Steelers didn't win in either of these years.

The city did have two champions in the same year once before - 1979 when the Pirates and Steelers were both Champs.

No city has even done this. Pennsylvania can lay claim as the only state to accomplish this feat when the Pittsburgh Steelers won their first of consecutive Super Bowls on 1/12/75 and the Philadelphia Flyers followed with their second of consecutive Stanley Cups on 5/27/75.
