There is no Frank Collins listed on the Pittsburgh Steelers all-time roster because he played prior to the internet and was on the practice squad and/or not a starter and eventually cut. There are several articles in archives and I've talked to several well known starters from the Steelers who know him well and have played with him and have described him as a short but very tough and fast back. He played 10-12 years from the mid 70's to mid 80's between the NFL, USFL, and Canadian League. He may not have been a starter or played on practice squads in the NFL, but did see playing time and even scored a couple touchdowns for the Steelers. He was a local star from Beaver Falls, PA. He was drafted out of the University of Utah. And spent time playing in Pittsburgh, Washington, Cincinnati, and Chicago, as well as in Canada. He made a nice life for his family playing ball. I've found numerous articles in archives from all cities. His nickname was "Frank the Tank". When the internet first came on the scene, players had the option to "op-out" of their information being available on the internet, which he did. If you call the Steelers office they also verify his NFL career, including the time he spent at the Steelers. He's made repeat appearances at the Rooney's annual Walk/Run, where his is introduced with his bio by the Steelers representative.
