You can totally wear socks over your pointe shoes on carpet if you want to warm up your feet. Just remember that it's never a good idea to wear socks on top of your pointe shoes to go on pointe, as it's really slippery (learned from bad experiences) and don't go on pointe on carpet (twisted an ankle a couple times doing that) unless you mean dance carpet, as in, the flooring in your dance studio.

Everyone has differently shaped feet, so it just depends on the person. Grishkos often have harder shanks, which will make it more difficult for a beginning pointe student to get their arches all the way over the box. Grishkos are great pointe shoes, however, but they might not be right for you feet - go to a store and have yourself fitted for the right brand of pointe shoes if it's your first time.

This was okay at the beginning of pointe work just because dancers didn't have the feet and strength dancers have today. Over time though, the pointe shoe has become relatively soft compared to its ancestors. Now pointe shoes are made of layers of fabric and paste. First of all, why do you need to make fake pointe shoes??? Anyway, pointe shoes are all handmade, and the hard bit at the toe is made from lots of layers of glue and canvas (i think its canvas) material to make it hard. SO,, if you are that desperate you could try piling glue and canvas stuff onto the toe of a normal ballet shoe. also, pointe shoes are made of shiny pink satin on the outside, so you might want to cover it up with that? but i have NO idea what it will come out like i think it will look a bit weird. Try looking up some videos of how they make them to give you a better idea. If you need them so bad you could try buying the cheapest pair from a shop or something. I am now taking it you are interested in ballet and want to try some out, huh? Well so am i but i am waiting till i get on pointe which hopefully is soon!! <3 Or get an old pair of shoes or ballet shoes fill the ends with carrier bags,socks or tissue then for sopport cover them in tape and for more support put a sock over the top. I am a dancer and I do pointe at least 2 times a week. I do practise for an hour or 2 everyday and have been doing pointe for over a year now. i have found that the "ouch-pouches" from dance wear shops are the most effective as I have never had a blister and they are very comfortable to wear.

A good way to break in pointe shoes is to just wear them around the house with socks over the top. Another way is to do gentle rises everyday through the ball of the foot, bending whilst on pointe and then coming back down through the ball. After a while the pointe shoes should become bendier and easier to use.

Hi, It is impossible to gauge what size you would be in pointe shoes. Some shoes are made big and some are made small. There are also other factors in the fitting of pointe shoes eg. width! The only way is to be professionally fitted at a dance store! Do not buy pointe shoes over the internet unless you are a professional dancer who knows exactly what size ,width and make she wears!

Which pointe shoes are best for intermediate dancers with a high arch but can't get over all the way on to pointe?
I would always recommend Freed. Freed Studios are great for class, they help develop strong feet. If you can't get all the way over, you need to do some feet strengthening exercises. Also stretch your arches. Look into 3/4 shank shoes for performances.
Can a bride wear school shoes and socks on her wedding day?
A bride can wear anything she wants. Unless the school shoes and socks have a special meaning to you then it would be wise to either wear flat shoes or a high heel (not too high of a heel or your feet will be sore before the wedding celebration in over.)
