It's bad to play any kind of sport with any kind of injury. Unless you are trying to do series ~ perminent damage.
The fact that your wrist hurts doesn't prevent you from getting a cast. Getting a cast won't necessarily help your hurt wrist, though.

For a fractured wrist to heal properly, it needs to be reset and allowed to heal without moving. This is usually ensured by placing the wrist in a cast, or, at the very least, a split.
