A king can not come into contact with another king in Chess as one player would be moving into check but any other piece can come into contact with a king in chess, the king can never be taken. GENS UNA SUMUS In actuality, no piece ever comes in contact with a King. The King is never captured by another piece. The King is checkmated when it cannot be moved to a square where it would not be captured on the other player's next move. If White moves a piece to checkmate Black and Black cannot move out of check, the game is over before White moves.
