Can a HOCKEY player score a goal with an opposing players stick?

Yes. There is a rule in the NHL where if you drop your stick, you can pick up any other stick on the ice provided it isn't broken. If that stick happens to be an opposing player's stick you can score a goal with it. This has actually happened once or twice. One that I recall was where one player dropped his stick and then proceeded to rip one of his opponent's sticks out of his hand. Not getting a call from the ref for doing this, the opponent picked up the stick on the ice and then scored with it.

What came first hockey or soccer?

That depends on whether you are referring to Ice Hockey or Field Hockey. Soccer originated with the ancient game of Harpastum, played by the Roman Legions, while Ice Hockey was invented in Canada in the 19th Century. Field Hockey, on the other hand is known to have been played in Ancient Greece at the Olympic Games. There is a monument in the museum at Olympia which depicts two players with typical curved field hockey sticks in a face-off position and a ball between them.

In hockey if the netminder has been pulled and a player saves the puck from going in by closing his hand on the puck in the crease?

The rule is that if a player closes his hand on the puck in the goal crease, then a penalty shot is awarded, if the goalie has been pulled when a penalty shot is awarded, then the referee awards a goal to the team instead.

How are hockey sticks made to shoot?

Well my opinion is that when hockey sticks were first made they pulled a curve onto the stick and now if you want to do a wrist shot or a slapshot all you have to do is curve your hand and shoot.

Why are left handed field hockey sticks against the rules?

There are a lot of left-handed players in the world including internationals who play with regulation hockey sticks. With a little practice and getting used to the skills you will find that a lot of the skill involved in field hockey uses the left hand more than the right in hockey. For example, the Indian dribble uses the left hand to turn the sticks face from left to right when dribbling. When controling the ball you will find that much of the work is done by the left hand at the top of the stick, and the right hand is really just for support and stabilising the stick.

In hockey if the netminder has been pulled and a player stops the puck from going in by closing his hand on the puck in the crease?

If this happens................ The player can touch the puck with his hand in the defesive zone, but if he does close his hand on the puck in the crease than a goal can be awarded if there is no goalie If there is a goalie then the other team can have a penalty shot.

Do you need gloves for both hands for indoor hockey?

You don't have to wear gloves on both hands but get whacked with a stick on the hand that doesn't have a glove on it and ouch, that's gonna hurt. you don't have to but it is better to wear them so your hands don't hit by other sticks The two answers above are missing the point. The ball cannot be raised off the ground during indoor hockey and therefore the technique for stopping the ball when it is travelling to a players left, is to turn the stick over (so that the hook is to the floor) and holding the stick in the left hand only, put the left hand onto the ground making a long barrier over which the ball cannot legally be raised. As this needs to be done many times at speed during the course of a game, it is usual to wear a glove on the left hand to protect the knuckles. This technique can be applied to outdoor hockey as well as indoor hockey, Whilst it perfectly legal to wear a glove on both hands , if you ask any decent player, they will tell you that wearing gloves reduces the "feel" of the stick. This is why many gloves are open palmed, so that the feel of the stick can be retained. When hockey is being played correctly it is very unusual for a player to be hit on the hand by another stick, and if this is what is worrying you then you should probably take up another sport.'
