Only if he is forced out. If the gunner voluntarily runs out of bounds to avoid blockers on the return team, and then runs back in bounds to make the tackle, it is a penalty.

Player runs out of bounds and back to make tackle?

A player that runs out of bounds on purpose can not be the first player to make contact with the ball or the ball carrier. If they are pushed out of bounds by a blocker and make and effort to get back in quickly, they can make the tackle.

This is a tackle made by grabbing the inside of the shoulder pads and throwing the ball carrier to the ground. This type of tackle was outlawed by the NFL in 2005 due to the possibility of injury to the ball carrier resulting from it.

Can a defensive player go out of bounds then return to the field to tackle an offensive player?

Yes he can. If you want proof you can see it in a Super Bowl XLIII re-run where #92 of the Steelers ran that interception back for a touchdown. Larry Fitzgerald was out of bounds just before he tackled #92 in the end zone. Only if the player was forced out of bounds by the opposing team can he come back in to make a tackle which was not the case in SB XLIII and Fitzgerald. He may have been forced out by an Arizona player but he was no forced out by a Pittsburgh player. He was not flagged because they simply did not see it.

What is tackle in space in football?

The phrase "tackling in space" refers to a player making a tackle on a ball-carrier in the open field, relatively far away from other traffic (other players). It's also often called "an open field tackle" meaning that the field is open for the ball-carrier, but the defender was able to tackle him anyway.

In rugby can you tackle a person from behind If you get deflected can you get back up and tackle him?

Absolutley! In a tackle if the ball carrier hits the ground the tackler is required to move immediately to their feet to be able to fight for the ball. A tackler who is on the floor with the ball carrier must move or make a positive attempt to roll away from the tackled player and the ball or they will be seen as slowing the game and cant be penalised. If you have been "handed off" by the ball carrier or just knocked out of the way when you were trying to tackle that player you are EXPECTED to make every effort to legally stop the ball carrier advancing

Can a wide receiver tackle a defensive lineman?

Offensive players cannot tackle anyone(they can block or run down the defensive players if they're the ball carrier) unless during the play, there's change of possession(examples: interceptions, fumble recovery), any offensive player can tackle the defensive ball carrier.

Does pushing someone out of bounds count as a tackle?

Yes because you are stopping the play by just the same as if you are in the middle of the field and you bring them to the ground.

If a fumble occurs and the player is out of bounds can he come back and pick up the ball and continue play?

A defensive player may go out of bounds and then come back in bounds and make a tackle or recover a fumble. An offensive player may not go out of bounds voluntarily and then catch a pass. The only other rule about going out of bounds in the college rulebook is that a member of the kicking team may not go out of bounds voluntarily and then come back onto the field to make a play.
