If you are asking about .177 cal, it will kill small rodents and birds. 20 and 22. cal will kill small game like squirrels Large boar 45 and 50 CAl will kill large game (Deer and moose) Yes, air rifles are made in 45 and 50 caliber. They are of the PCP family of air rifles. They are made by Shinsung see http://www.pyramydair.com/p/career-dragon-slayer-50-caliber-air-rifle.shtml
There are some manufactures that make very powerful pelet guns. Some air rifles can be as powerful as a .22 caliber rimfire. So it is possible, however if not killed initially, infection would be the slow painfull death of the animal. It troubles me as to why you would ask this, if you were a hunter you would already know the answer. Raccoons are amazing creatures. These highly intelegent critters can be a nuisance but generally a good solid garbage can with a lockable lid will end your frustration with them. If that doesn't work contact a nuisance wildlife control officer and have the animal relocated. I wont trap and relocate in the spring as it may be a female nursing young, so keep that in mind and please don't shoot any animal unless your intent is to harvest it for food.
Yes it is possible to kill a snake with a pellet gun. But I suggest that you use hunting pellets they deform when they hit a target and make a clean kill. Do not try to kill a snake with a BB gun. I also suggest you use a pistol the produced at least 500 FPS ( Feet Per Second) Almost any of the newer air rifles will kill a snake, most of them start at 600 FPS and go up to 1250 FPS. When hunting I use a .22 caliber air rifle with Predator Hunting pellets. These are bone crushing pellets and kill quickly.
Yes but it depends on the size of the raccoon, the pellet and the power of the rifle. I would suggest hunting pellets ( called hollow point pellets ) and using a .22 caliber pellet rifle. Do not use a BB gun. Hollow point pellets deform when they hit a target and have maximum knockdown power. A head shot is the most humane shot.
If you are talking about a PCP (PreCharged Pneumatic) rifle. With a .45 caliber pellet, then "Yes" It can. I don't believe there is a 40 Caliber pellet gun.
Yes, there are several pre-charged, and break action pellet rifles that can more then kill a deer. They even use them to kill Wolf and Coyotes. However, you'd need a rifle with 16+ foot pounds to reliably kill large animals.
it may kill a deer if you were lucky. But it is not the best choice for hunting deer. Remember a .22 pellet is the same size slug as a regular .22 cal bullet and I would not hunt deer with a .22 cal rifle. It's just a poor choice.
no. Why would you?
Yes
No, a pellet gun can't kill a bear it will only make it angry. There for it will eaither attack you or just ignore it.
It is passable to kill a cat in the right situation.
No... Corrected answer.-------------- It depends on the caliber and power of your Pellet gun. But Yes it is possible. In fact many pellet guns and rifles are used for rodent control.
Yes
No! And for those that think the bear will ignore it I'll just say this. If you are OUT OF YOUR MIND and use a pellet gun then the bear WILL NOT, I REPEAT, WILL NOT IGNORE IT! IT WILL ATTACK! Therfore the only out come is it will charge you while you are reloading your precious single-shot pellet gun and will have you for supper. If you are hunting deer or elk with a pellet gun then you can kill one because there are high-powerd pellet guns out there that are proven to kill medium game...BUT NOT LARGE GAME!
Yes but it takes a special type of pellet gun not your normal every day pellet gun. The model I an referring to are in the class of PCP (PreCharged Pneumatic) air rifles. These rifles require a special pump or scuba tank to charge them to 3000 PSI and are capable of firing large pellets up to 50 caliber and can bring down a deer or boar. these rifles are also much more expensive than the average pellet gun or rifle.
Yes. Under the right circumstances.
