Of course!! Sixth graders are so active and filled with excitement and they should let all that energy out with playing sports and play against eighth graders, but that will make them more challenged and make them want to play and win even more than what they usually would want to win.Eighth graders already think they are better than everybody else in the school, so it would mean a lot if the sixth graders can play against them.

∙ 10y agoYes, to a degree. Children of 10-12 years old are entering the middle school years. They need to learn to be part of a team. As a 78er football and Wrestling coach, I recruited 6th graders every year to be part of the team. While under our conference rules, they weren't able to play or participate in games or tournaments, they practiced with us every day, and wrestlers were able to match during non-tournament events. Being with the team at games and events helped them become part of the whole. They became part of the brother/sisterhood, the family (yes, I recruited girls for both teams as well, and one of the best wrestlers I ever found was a 68 pound girl who went to state in high school; I found a couple good female halfbacks too).
By the next year, when they were able to participate fully, they had already learned the plays and fundamental positions and moves, and did not begin "at the bottom" if they had waited until joining the team in 7th grade. This went a long way toward keeping morale higher.

∙ 10y agoIt is really depending on the school. I go to a private school and sixth graders are granted the possibility of playing a sport. I also know children at schools are not granted the wish of sixies at da sports field..,

∙ 10y agoYes. Everyone has the right to play sports, and most junior high sports are entirely appropriate for sixth grade. Sports are well supervised by teachers, so there is no physical danger.

There are upside to letting 6th graders play middle school sports, but there are also downsides like if they 6th graders are focused on sports then they may not focus as much on their schoolwork or getting used to middle school.
They are to young to be playing with eighth graders!! Also it was clinically proven that the new transition for 6th Graders is 2 hard2 handle
71 percent of them do
well my school is k-4 5&6 7&8 9-12 but at my school 6th grades cant play sports either but most schools don't have 6th graders do sports
Yes, 6th graders should definatley play sports only meant for 7th and 8th graders. Whats the big deal? Soon they will get faced with a bigger challenge in sports and this will help prepare them for it. Also the school can make more money from the games
yes athletic and not fat will help them in school
Because 6th through 8th grade is still considered "middle school"
