For the most part yes but still can be a gray area. In order to transport it by car you must have an empty tank, and have it, the marker and paint separate. As always, don't use it in public areas that are not designated paintball fields.

No it's not, but your only allowed to ues it in paintball areas only. You need to have a barrel sock or something to cover the barrel on the marker. Your only allowed to shoot the marker at someone with a safe mask. If you shoot it at someone without a mask you can get into serious trouble.

it is perfectly fine, you just need to keep it in a bag and out of sight of the public. if for some reason you get pulled over for any reason let the officer know you are caring the paintball gun. you can also call you local pd and ask them.

Officially under the firearm laws in NYC paintball markers are illegal, but usually the case is that this part of the law is not always enforced (some police officers do actually play paintball as well so they won't be too harsh on a casual paintballer). In any case, treat your paintball marker as if you would do with a firearm - disconnect the air supply and make sure there are no paintballs in the chamber, and if needed, remove the barrel and store them in a sturdy container that doesn't reveal its contents.
